Advantages Of New Bikes
Some of the advantages of a new bike are pretty clear. Your machine will be factory-fresh, with a clean coat of paint and that new bike smell. But there’s more to a new motorcycle than just aesthetic. A new bike has no owner history, meaning no one has ever customized or damaged it in the past. It’s a clean slate, ready for you to write your own stories with it.
Don’t forget the manufacturer warranty, of course. A new bike will be covered for anywhere between a few months to a few years, so if you end up in an accident or you find somthing wrong with your model, it will likely be at least partly covered. Remember that warranties vary by model and manufacturer, so be sure to know what’s covered by yours.
Technology is another big plus to a new bike. The motorcycle industry is incredibly competitive, so every new model that comes out is bristling with upgrades and updates that make it better in any number of ways. From a more expansive display and controls to better fuel economy, a new bike will often, simply put, be better than an older one.
Budget
Now that you’re committed to a new bike, it’s time to set up your budget. You’ll want to crunch a few numbers to see how much money you can afford to spend on a deposit and subsequent monthly payments. If you can manage to pay it off in one fell swoop, all the better, but don’t get down on yourself if you can’t.
Loans And Credit Score
If you need some assistance paying off your bike, you’ll want to consider a loan. Your credit score will affect what kind of loan you can obtain, so do your best to drive it up a few notches before you start this process. Ideally, you’ll want a credit score over 700 to get a decent interest rate on your loan.
There are two main types of loans you can get. The first is an unsecured loan. These are harder to get with a lower credit score and have higher interest rates, but they don’t require your motorcycle as collateral for the loan. This means that defaulting on an unsecured loan won’t lead to the repossession of your bike.
A secured loan is easier to get with a lower credit score, and they tend to have lower interest rates and higher borrow rates. However, your bike might end up as collateral for the loan, so defaulting on your payments could lose you the motorcycle.
